Hyundai Motor America, a subsidiary of South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group, announced a recall of 135,386 vehicles, according to an online recall notice issued by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday that Hyundai is recalling certain 2024 and 2025 Santa Fe models.

The positive terminal cover “B+” in the starter motor assembly may have been improperly installed, which could cause an electrical short circuit during a collision, increasing the risk of fire.

Dealers will inspect the starter motor terminal cover and reinstall it free of charge if necessary.
