Israel’s Channel 12 reported that Prime Minister Netanyahu called Egyptian President Sisi while U.S. President Donald Trump was beside him in Tel Aviv.
Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom also reported that U.S. President Trump is considering including Netanyahu in the Sharm El-Sheikh peace summit following the Egyptian president’s invitation.
Earlier on Monday, Trump arrived at Ben Gurion Airport in Israel on his first visit to Tel Aviv since his re-election as president.
Trump is set to deliver a speech before the Israeli Knesset before heading to Egypt to chair the “Peace Summit” in Sharm El-Sheikh, at a time when Hamas released Israeli prisoners.
On board the presidential plane, Trump told reporters in response to a question about his confidence in ending the conflict between Israel and Hamas, “The war is over. Okay? Do you understand that?” expressing confidence that the ceasefire “will hold.”
Before taking off from Andrews Air Force Base near Washington, Trump described his trip to the Middle East as “very special.”
