The organizers at the European Broadcasting Union postponed today, Monday, the decision regarding Israel’s participation in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.

They stated that instead of holding a possible special meeting in November, the issue will be discussed at the regular meeting in December.

The union said this step is linked to recent developments in the Middle East and expectations of ending the Gaza war.

Several European countries had threatened to boycott the Eurovision contest if Israel participated in the next edition of this globally popular music event in 2026, in protest against the war waged by Tel Aviv in the Gaza Strip.

It is noted that Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement agreed to implement the first phase of the US peace plan, and a ceasefire has come into effect.
