Egypt’s national team ended the first half against Guinea-Bissau leading 1-0 in the match currently taking place as part of the tenth and final round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, amid celebratory atmosphere following qualification.
The goal came in the 10th minute after a left-side corner kick executed by Zizo with a pass outside the penalty area to Koka, who sent a precise cross into the box met by Mohamed Hamdy’s header that settled in the right side of the net.
The Egypt lineup included: “Goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi, defenders Mohamed Hany, Rami Rabia, Yasser Ibrahim, Mohamed Hamdy, midfielders Mohanad Lasheen, Ahmed Nabil Koka, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, and the attacking trio Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Ibrahim Adel, and Mostafa Mohamed.”

The coaching staff, led by Hossam Hassan, decided to exclude goalkeeper El-Shenawy from the squad and rest Liverpool star Mohamed Salah for this match. Also, Marwan Attia (Al Ahly) and Hamdi Fathi (Al Wakrah) were excluded due to suspension after receiving their second yellow cards.
Egypt qualified for the World Cup for the fourth time, topping Group A in the African qualifiers with 23 points from 9 matches, before tonight’s match against Guinea-Bissau in the tenth and final round, which the Pharaohs are playing as a formality.
The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) set December 5 as the date for the 2026 World Cup draw, which will feature 48 teams for the first time in history, in the US capital, Washington.

Absent from this camp due to injury and unfitness for the match against Guinea are Omar Marmoush (Manchester City star), Mohamed Abdel Monem, Emam Ashour, Mohamed Shehata, and Nabil Emad Donga.
