Accra, October 13 / BNA / The Ghana national football team officially qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals after defeating the visiting Comoros national team 1-0 in their match held Sunday evening as part of the final round of Group 10 in the African qualifiers for the World Cup.

Mohammed Kudus scored the only goal of the match in the 47th minute, leading his team to top the group with 25 points, surpassing other teams, and securing qualification for the fifth time in its history and the second consecutive time.

In the same round, the Central African Republic defeated Chad 3-2 at home, while Mali beat Madagascar 4-1.

According to the final group standings, Madagascar came in second with 19 points, followed by Mali with 18 points, then Comoros with 15 points, the Central African Republic with 8 points, and Chad at the bottom with just one point.

This qualification compensates Ghanaian fans for the disappointment after the team failed to qualify for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

It is worth noting that the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup include 54 teams divided into 9 groups, with group winners qualifying directly, while the best four runners-up compete in playoffs to determine Africa’s representative in the global playoffs.
