Egypt qualified for the World Cup for the fourth time in its history after defeating Djibouti 3-0 in the match held today, Wednesday, at the Al-Arabi Al-Zawali Stadium in Morocco, as part of the ninth round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The first goal came in the 8th minute from a precise cross by Zizo, which Ibrahim Adel headed into the net. In the 14th minute, Salah scored the second goal after a pass from Trezeguet behind Djibouti’s defenders, before the Egyptian king sealed the third goal in the 84th minute following a long pass from Marwan Attia, which Salah received and scored by exploiting the goalkeeper’s advanced position.
Egypt qualified for the World Cup for the fourth time, topping Group A in the African qualifiers with 23 points from 9 matches, ahead of the upcoming match against Guinea-Bissau in the tenth and final round, which the Pharaohs will play as a formality.
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) set December 5 as the date for the 2026 World Cup draw, which will feature 48 teams for the first time in history, in the US capital, Washington.
