Youm7 TV provided special coverage presented by colleague Mohamed Abu Leila, highlighting the illustrious career of star Mohamed Salah, captain of the Egyptian national team and Liverpool FC star, following his remarkable performance in the Pharaohs’ journey in the Africa qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, where the team secured qualification before the last round.

Mohamed Salah topped the list of Egypt’s top scorers in the qualifiers and is close to achieving a new historic milestone, being just a few steps away from equaling the record held by legend Hossam Hassan as the all-time top scorer for the national team.

In the last match against Djibouti, Salah scored two brilliant goals in the 14th and 85th minutes, leading the Pharaohs to a 3-0 victory, continuing his favorite habit of scoring with impressive performance and captain’s responsibility.

With these two goals, Salah raised his international tally to 63 goals, placing him just five goals shy of Hossam Hassan’s historic record (68 goals). He also became the top scorer in the African qualifiers for the World Cup with 20 goals, surpassing continental stars like Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o, and Islam Slimani, each with 18 goals.

The Egyptian Football Association celebrated the captain’s achievement on its official Facebook page, posting: “King of the game Mohamed Salah, our national team captain, becomes the all-time top scorer in the African World Cup qualifiers with 20 goals.”

Mohamed Salah is the standout player among the Pharaohs in the qualifiers, playing a pivotal role in leading the team to the World Cup, continuing the current generation’s journey in repeating the 2018 World Cup achievement and writing a new chapter in Egyptian football history.
