A recent report expects Apple to enter the foldable phone market next year with its long-awaited foldable iPhone, reportedly named iPhone Fold, which may be unveiled in September 2026. While Apple has not confirmed any plans, analysts continue to reveal details about the foldable iPhone. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has now shared specifications indicating the foldable book-like phone will have four cameras, including one on the external screen, one on the main internal screen, and two on the back. The main external camera is likely to have a higher resolution, while the second lens may be either a telephoto or wide-angle camera. The foldable iPhone is expected to feature a 5 or 6-inch external display and a large 8-inch foldable internal display.

Gurman also notes Apple may reintroduce Touch ID on this flagship device, integrated into the side button for quick unlocking, instead of the bulky TrueDepth system, to maintain a slim 9.5 mm thickness when folded. Apple is also expected to launch the next-generation C2 modem next year, offering faster speeds than the C1 modem, which will likely be integrated into the foldable iPhone. Additionally, the iPhone 17 Air and the foldable iPhone are expected to come without SIM card ports, supporting dual 5G eSIM connectivity. The foldable iPhone is rumored to be priced at $1999, with a higher price expected in India. Furthermore, Apple has begun preliminary talks with Google to develop a custom AI model powered by Google Gemini to support an updated version of Siri, aiming to close the generative AI gap with competitors.

Apple has also explored collaborations with Anthropic PBC and OpenAI to integrate Claude or ChatGPT as a base for Siri, but no final decision has been made on whether to use internal models or external partners.
