Engineer Ayman Atiya, Governor of Qalyubia, and Major General Magid Abdel Hamid, Deputy Minister of Transport, held a meeting today, Wednesday, to discuss the proposal to build an overhead bridge above the Arab Al-Iraqi and Qalyub Station level crossings in Qalyub city, aiming to eliminate traffic congestion and achieve smooth vehicle flow.
The meeting was attended by Major General Mohamed Hawas, Head of the Central Administration for Project Planning at the General Authority for Roads and Bridges, Dr. Mohamed Fawzi, Deputy Governor for Investment and Projects, Engineer Yasser Marai, Director of Ground Networks in Qalyubia, Dr. Mohamed El-Fioumy from the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, and Dr. Ahmed Atef Suleiman, Lecturer in the Department of Roads at the Faculty of Engineering.
The proposed technical plan for the industrial work was also reviewed, which connects the Cairo-Alexandria Agricultural Road to the Nawy-Shibin El Qanater Road, as well as the Qalyub Station area, contributing to reducing the high traffic density in the area, limiting frequent congestion, and achieving comprehensive traffic fluidity.
Both parties confirmed that the project is part of the state’s plan to create safe alternative routes that align with the developmental boom witnessed by the transport sector, emphasizing that the proposed bridge will represent a radical solution to the congestion problem in the area and contribute to enhancing safety levels and reducing accidents.
