Misuse of artificial intelligence caused a widely spread rumor on social media platforms about the death of global action movie star Jackie Chan.

Social media users circulated three images of Jackie Chan: one AI-generated image showing him inside a coffin after his alleged death, the second showing him on a sickbed, and the third a photo from a public appearance years ago.

The Truth About Jackie Chan’s Death

Jackie Chan, 71 years old, is alive and in good health. Despite repeated rumors of his death over the years, the use of AI has escalated unprecedentedly the death claims surrounding the famous Hong Kong star.

The coffin image used his youthful features and was poorly made, with obvious flaws, especially his fingers which looked unrealistic. The Rumor Scanner platform confirmed the image is 99.9% fake.

The second image circulating, showing Jackie Chan receiving treatment in a hospital, actually dates back to September 1985 during the filming of the movie Armour of God in Yugoslavia, when he suffered a serious head injury after falling while performing a dangerous stunt.

Jackie Chan Indirectly Denies Death Rumors

The rumor of Jackie Chan’s death started circulating on August 11, 2025. The indirect denial came about a week later in a report published by the official Olympics website celebrating Jackie Chan’s visit to the International Olympic Committee headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The official Olympics Instagram account posted two video clips of the global action star’s visit, the first dated August 18, and the second on August 19, 2025, providing a clear and explicit denial of the circulating rumors.
