Marinko Gorendik, the former sporting director of German club Augsburg, praised the Danish coach Jes Thorup, the head coach of Al Ahly’s first football team, affirming that he is the ideal choice to lead the Red Castle in the upcoming period.

Gorendik said in his statements to the Hat-trick program on On Sport 2: “Thorup is a wise coach who excels at psychologically motivating players, possesses a strong personality, and has great ability to handle pressure. He is the right coach for Al Ahly due to his flexibility in dealing with situations and his ability to adapt to various circumstances.”

He added: “He has coached the top 10 strongest teams in major leagues, and during my work with him, he was always flexible in discussing transfer matters and good at reading the team’s needs without exaggerating his demands.”

He continued: “I contacted him in recent days, and we talked about Al Ahly. He assured me that he fully understands the size of this great club in Africa and is completely ready for the new mission.”

Gorendik concluded by saying: “I am Swiss and know coaches Marcel Koller and Rene Weiler well, both of whom were very ambitious with Al Ahly. I believe Thorup follows the same path, making him a suitable choice for a club that only accepts championships.”
