British woman Michelle Hampstead died after being bitten by her dog, which caused a torn artery in her arm while the dog was fighting another over chicken nuggets from McDonald’s.

According to British media, Hampstead was feeding chicken pieces to her small dog named “Boom” and her other dog named “Trig.”

While feeding the two dogs in her apartment on July 29 last year, the larger dog “Trig” bit her upper left arm, injuring a major artery as he tried to snatch the piece from the smaller dog.

Lincoln Brooks, the chief investigator, said “Boom attacked Trig” and the latter “tried to bite or pounce on him, and this is a large dog with strong jaws.”

Hampstead, who lived in Southend, Essex, was taken to the hospital but died the next day at Royal London Hospital due to massive blood loss that led to multiple organ failure.

Her former partner Samuel West told investigators during a hearing that Hampstead had bought McDonald’s food, adding, “She had a box I think containing 20 pieces of chicken.”

A recording captured by a fixed camera showed Michelle throwing a piece of chicken into the air and finding herself in the middle of the fight.

Chief coroner Lincoln Brooks recorded the cause of death as an “accidental death,” explaining: “Michelle Hampstead died from hypovolemic shock due to a single bite from her large dog at her home, which caused an artery to rupture. The bite was not aggressive and occurred amid a brief fight between the two dogs over food.”
