The graduation ceremony, held at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, is part of a distinguished educational initiative combining government efforts represented by the Productivity Efficiency and Vocational Training Authority affiliated with the Ministry of Industry, and the private sector represented by Poly Serve Fertilizers Group, to build a new generation of technical competencies qualified for the labor market. The event was attended by Dr. Engineer Sherif El-Gebaly, Chairman of Poly Serve Group, and Engineer Abdel Salam El-Gebaly, Vice Chairman of the Group.
In his speech, Engineer Mohamed Shimi emphasized that technical education and vocational training are fundamental pillars for building a modern state, noting the rapid global transformation increasing the need for applied skills and practical expertise. He added that technical education is no longer just an alternative to academic education but has become a necessity underpinning industrial development plans, stimulating the investment environment, increasing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, contributing to enhancing productivity, and improving the efficiency of economic sectors, foremost among them industry, agriculture, energy, and logistics services, especially with the introduction of new and modern specializations such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, technical applications, and cybersecurity.
The minister added that developing the technical education system directly helps bridge the gap between educational outputs and labor market needs, pointing out that the Abu Zaabal school model reflects a shift in the philosophy of education and training, equipping students with practical skills and preparing generations capable of effectively contributing to comprehensive development. He praised this initiative as a successful model of integration between the public and private sectors to prepare qualified technical cadres that meet labor market needs and enhance the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy.
The Minister of Public Business Sector explained that the ministry, according to its strategy derived from Egypt Vision 2030 and the government work program, prioritizes human capital development and works through its affiliated companies to develop continuous training systems and upgrade the skills of employees in affiliated companies, considering this a key axis in improving performance and raising production efficiency. He referred to cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education to establish applied technological schools in important industrial sectors such as textiles and pharmaceuticals, in parallel with the significant development witnessed by these sectors in the ministry’s affiliated companies. Coordination is also underway with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to establish technological universities that support this approach by providing advanced specializations aligned with labor market requirements.
Engineer Mohamed Shimi pointed out that the ministry pays special attention to its affiliated educational institutions, including the “EGOTH” Institutes for Tourism and Hotels, by developing curricula, adopting modern teaching methods, and building the capacities of faculty members, contributing to graduating human cadres capable of competing in local and international markets.
At the end of his speech, Engineer Mohamed Shimi addressed the graduates, urging them to continue learning and skill development, affirming that graduation is not the end of the road but the true beginning towards building a successful professional career serving the nation and society. The minister expressed his pride and honor in participating in this event, thanking all those responsible for the success of this initiative from the government and private sector, highlighting the Ministry of Industry’s efforts in supporting the technical education journey, and confirming the Ministry of Public Business Sector’s commitment to continue supporting the vocational training system as the real path towards a more productive, sustainable, and competitive future.
