Space 42 has launched the GIQ geospatial data analysis center powered by artificial intelligence on the Microsoft Azure platform, marking a step to expand the company’s global presence and reinforce the UAE’s leading role in space-enabled decision-making.
The center was developed in partnership with the UAE Space Agency to serve as the core of the UAE Space Data Center. The availability of GIQ on the Azure marketplace reflects the global impact of the national investment in space technology, supporting the UAE’s National Space Strategy 2030 and the “We the UAE 2031” vision.
Salem Al Qubaisi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency, stated that the partnership with Space 42 enabled the agency to build a platform that enhances access for young researchers, startups, and international partners to advanced space data and AI capabilities. He noted that within just three years, the partnership earned the Future Readiness Award in recognition of the strong impact achieved together.
He added that listing the first regional AI-powered earth observation and monitoring platform on the Microsoft Azure marketplace is a significant strategic achievement, reflecting the UAE’s ongoing leadership in space innovation and advanced analytics.
Hassan Al Hosani, CEO of Smart Solutions at Space 42, said the launch of the space data analysis center represents a qualitative step to consolidate global leadership in geospatial analytics platforms and services, highlighting their work to enable organizations worldwide to access scalable, practical, and user-friendly insights.
Governments, research institutions, and industries benefit from space data in applications such as climate monitoring, infrastructure management, and urban development. However, adoption remains slow due to challenges including difficult access, fragmented data sources, and high computational requirements.
Understanding these challenges, the GIQ center was designed to transform multi-source satellite data into actionable analytical information supporting decision-making within minutes. It relies on over ten providers and more than eight advanced AI models proven effective in practical applications including disaster response, urban planning, food security enhancement, and environmental monitoring.
GIQ is built on three core pillars that form its strategic value: accelerating access to insights, ensuring trusted sovereignty, and enhancing the global ecosystem.
Space 42 is currently testing an intelligent assistant integrated into the platform that guides users through workflows and suggests the most suitable images, resolutions, and models, enabling even non-experts to produce accurate and fast analyses.
