A wife filed a lawsuit for imprisonment and divorce for harm against her husband before the Family Court in October, accusing him of failing to pay her alimony and medical expenses after he learned of her pregnancy, abandoning her and leaving her in a difficult health condition.

The wife confirmed: “My husband demanded that I support myself from my salary, refused to pay for my treatment expenses after knowing about my pregnancy, abandoned me and left me hanging.”

She added: “My husband threatened me, beat me, tried to cause a miscarriage, and caused me material and moral harm to live in hell. I was harmed and expelled from the marital home by him and his family. He refused to allow me access to my belongings and jewelry, refused to pay medical expenses related to my pregnancy, deceived me, broke his promises to make me live happily, and left me to suffer. He beat me severely and almost caused a miscarriage.”

She continued: “He threatened to leave me hanging and marry another woman if I did not waive my rights, abandoned me despite my deteriorating health due to pregnancy, refused to pay my expenses and treatment costs, insulted me, defamed my reputation, and resorted to false witnesses to deprive me of my legal rights.”

According to personal status law, several conditions must be met to accept an imprisonment lawsuit against the husband, including that the judgment must be issued in a matter related to alimony or wages or similar, the judgment must be final either after appeal or after the appeal period expires, and the convicted party must refuse to execute the judgment after being duly notified of the final ruling.
