Veteran Serbian Novak Djokovic, holder of 24 Grand Slam titles, was eliminated from the Shanghai Masters semifinals after losing to qualifier Valentin Vacherot from Monaco 3-6, 4-6.

Vacherot, 26 years old and ranked 204th globally, became the first player from Monaco to defeat a top-10 player and reach a professional tournament final.

In the final, Vacherot will face his cousin, Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, who defeated former world No. 1 Russian Daniil Medvedev.

Djokovic, 38, appeared physically exhausted, requesting medical timeouts for treatment on his left leg and lower back, but was unable to recover.

In the Wuhan Open, American Jessica Pegula fought hard to defeat world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) and advance to the final against compatriot Coco Gauff.

Rinderknech, ranked 54th, reached his first Masters final after beating Medvedev 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 and will enter the top 30 in the next rankings.
