Al Wakrah team, which includes Egyptian national player Hamdi Fathi, begins its journey in the new edition of the Qatar Stars League by facing Al Arabi at 6:30 PM today at Al Thumama Stadium, as part of the opening round. Hamdi Fathi joined Al Wakrah in July 2023 on a four-season contract, during which he participated in the Qatar Stars League and the Emir Cup, winning the Qatar Cup with the team. Notably, Hamdi Fathi was loaned to Al Ahly for one month from Al Wakrah to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup held in the USA. Al Wakrah aims to start with a win after strengthening its squad with several distinguished players, including Brazilian Lucas Verissimo, Spaniards Gerard Valentín and Raúl de Tomás, Algerian Redouane Berkan, and Moroccan Amin Zahzouh.

Spanish coach Vicente Moreno expressed strong optimism about the team delivering an outstanding season in the league and all local competitions, stating that all success factors are currently present within the team. He said, “All team members are ready for the start of the competitions, especially since we have worked well throughout the past period.” He added, “I am very excited for the season’s start, and I have many hopes and ambitions I seek to achieve. We will face a strong opponent in the first match, Al Arabi, which has signed good players in all positions.” Meanwhile, Al Wakrah goalkeeper Saud Al Khater expressed great satisfaction with the preparation period the team underwent for the new football season, saying the training camp had all the success factors. He added, “Our opening match against Al Arabi will be tough for both teams, but we are fully ready.

At Al Wakrah Club, we have a strong determination to appear differently from last season.”
