Amman, August 12 (Petra) – The Kingdom remains under the influence of the heatwave today, Tuesday, with hot weather over the high mountain elevations and very hot in other areas, with clouds appearing at various altitudes. Around midday, atmospheric instability is expected, with scattered rain showers across the Kingdom, possibly heavy for a short period in the south and east, sometimes accompanied by thunder. Winds will be moderate from northeast to northwest, occasionally active especially in desert areas, causing dust and reduced horizontal visibility.
The Meteorological Department warns against prolonged direct sun exposure during peak hours, slippery roads due to rain, flash floods in valleys and low areas in the south and east, and reduced visibility due to dust, especially in desert areas and sometimes complete loss of visibility on external roads. Citizens are advised not to leave children in closed vehicles even briefly, avoid leaving fire remnants or cigarette butts in forested areas, not to leave flammable materials inside vehicles, and to increase fluid intake, especially water.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, the weather remains hot over high mountain elevations and very hot elsewhere, with clouds at various altitudes. Atmospheric instability is expected again around midday with rain showers mainly in the south, possibly heavy for a short period in the south and east, sometimes with thunder. Winds will be moderate from northeast to northwest, occasionally active in the evening.
On Thursday, temperatures will slightly decrease, with hot weather over high mountain elevations and very hot elsewhere, with some clouds at medium and high altitudes. Winds will be moderate from the northwest, occasionally active.
On Friday, a noticeable drop in temperatures will occur, with relatively hot weather over high mountain elevations and hot elsewhere. Winds will be moderate from the northwest, occasionally active.
Maximum and minimum temperatures in East Amman today range between 42 – 29°C, West Amman 40 – 27°C, northern highlands 38 – 27°C, Shara highlands 38 – 26°C, desert areas 44 – 29°C, plains 40 – 26°C, northern Jordan Valley 45 – 29°C, southern Jordan Valley 42 – 34°C, Dead Sea 42 – 33°C, and Aqaba Gulf 44 – 33°C.
