Mazen Al-Natour, the head of the Syrian Artists Syndicate, announced an upcoming concert for the Syrian singer Asala Nasri in Damascus, marking her first return to her homeland after 15 years of absence.

This concert is part of the syndicate’s efforts to revive the artistic scene in the new Syria following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024, and to honor Asala, who recently received an honorary membership from the syndicate in recognition of her support for the Syrian revolution and her distinguished artistic career.

Al-Natour confirmed that the concert will be held in December in one of the major squares in Damascus, coinciding with the anniversary of the fall of Assad’s regime. He emphasized that the event is independent and unrelated to the Damascus International Fair activities.

The announcement came weeks after producer Anas Nasri (Asala’s brother) visited the Syrian Artists Syndicate headquarters, meeting several members. The syndicate issued an official statement explaining that the meeting discussed arrangements for Asala’s visit and preparations for the concert befitting her artistic status, highlighting serious coordination between the syndicate and relevant authorities.

The first indications of Asala’s return to Syria appeared in February when her brother stated there was a preliminary agreement to hold a major concert in Damascus, marking an exceptional milestone in her return after years of absence.

The head of the Syrian Artists Syndicate noted that the syndicate is working in coordination with governmental and cultural bodies to ensure the concert’s success, focusing on providing a safe and exceptional experience for the audience. He pointed out that the event aims to revive the cultural spirit in Syria, which suffered destruction and repression during the war years.

Al-Natour revealed that Asala Nasri, who previously expressed great longing to return to Syria, will perform a selection of her most famous songs alongside new works carrying national messages reflecting the hopes of Syrians in the rebuilding phase. The concert is expected to attract a large audience, as news of the event sparked widespread interaction on social media platforms.

The concert announcement follows Al-Natour’s decision in April to grant Asala honorary membership in the syndicate, alongside other artists such as Malek Jandali and Fadl Shaker, in recognition of their support for the Syrian revolution. Asala expressed her deep gratitude for this honor via an Instagram post, confirming her desire to visit Syria soon, which is now realized with the concert announcement.
