The French public prosecutor announced the arrest of a man and a teenager of Tunisian origin at Paris’s Gare de Lyon train station after discovering luxury jewelry and watches worth approximately 10 million euros ($11.7 million) hidden in innovative ways, notably inside socks and underwear.

According to The National News, the arrest occurred during a routine police search following their arrival from the city of Lyon. The seized items included a necklace worth 5 million euros, earrings worth 2 million euros, a ring valued at 1 million euros, and a Rolex watch. A cutting tool was also found in one of their suitcases.

The prosecutor’s office stated that the case was referred to the serious crimes unit to investigate the possibility that the detainees were hiding stolen goods. The judicial investigation is set to begin today (Monday).

This incident comes three months after the conclusion of one of France’s most notable jewelry theft trials, which targeted American star Kim Kardashian in 2016. Jewelry worth $6 million was stolen from her hotel room in Paris before she publicly forgave one of the criminals during an emotional hearing. France has also witnessed similar thefts targeting British tourists in Saint-Tropez, involving Birkin bags, jewelry, and cash worth 1 million euros.
