Frenchman Hugo Ikhtiki, Liverpool’s summer signing from German club Eintracht Frankfurt, said he is learning a lot from his Swedish teammate Alexander Isak and that they can cooperate to become Liverpool’s striking force.
Ikhtiki (23 years old), the team’s top scorer this season with 5 goals in 8 matches, ignored Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah and said in his first media statement since being bought for £79 million: “We play for a very big club and I can’t imagine a big club relying on just one striker. It’s good that Isak is here and for someone my age, I have a lot to learn and develop. The coach decides how we play. I have played as a striker and as a partner in attack.”
Ikhtiki missed the loss against Crystal Palace due to suspension after taking off his shirt during his goal celebration in the League Cup and said: “My behavior was not smart and I punished myself a lot. I felt disappointed watching the match from home. I apologized to everyone and I won’t repeat this.”
