Khaled Al-Ghandour, former Zamalek star, praised Mohamed El-Shenawy, Al Ahly’s goalkeeper, affirming that he deserves to wear the team’s captain’s armband. Al-Ghandour said on his Facebook page: “El-Shenawy’s presence as a starter for Al Ahly after the death of his father about a week ago in a tragic accident shows his strong personality and sense of responsibility, proving he deserves to be captain of a great and historic club like Al Ahly.” He added, “May God have mercy on his father and forgive him.” It is noteworthy that El-Shenawy played as a starter in Al Ahly’s match against Ghazl El Mahalla after missing the starting lineup in the first two matches of the season against Modern Sport and Pharco.
