On Sunday, the National Gendarmerie provided a set of guidelines for drivers to avoid risks associated with driving in hot weather, especially during the summer season which experiences a significant rise in temperatures causing physical fatigue and mechanical strain on vehicles.
The recommendations, published by the National Gendarmerie on their official Facebook page “Tariqi”, emphasized the importance of pre-planning the trip by choosing less congested routes and identifying alternatives if necessary, as well as ensuring the vehicle’s condition by checking oils, fluids, tire pressure, and the spare tire, in addition to inspecting the battery and radiator.
The same authorities advised carrying necessary documents, protecting oneself from the sun by wearing sunglasses and using air conditioning, along with carrying sufficient water and light snacks, and equipping the vehicle with safety tools such as a flashlight, a tool kit, and a fire extinguisher.
During the trip, the Gendarmerie warned against losing focus due to heat, which could lead to tension and irritability, urging to balance the car’s internal temperature using the air conditioner and to take regular breaks.
They also stressed the importance of not leaving children inside the vehicle even for a short period, avoiding leaving flammable items such as lighters and perfume bottles, and stopping occasionally to rest the driver and avoid fatigue.
Additionally, they recommended not to overconsume iced drinks to prevent further fluid loss, confirming that adhering to these tips contributes to safe summer driving.
