Price levels in Gaza Strip are experiencing sharp fluctuations between rises and falls, linked to developments in the Israeli aggression.
The producer price index for goods exported from local production recorded a decrease of 0.85%, reaching 126.73 compared to 127.81 in the previous month.
Prices of goods produced by manufacturing activities, which represent 58.92% of the product basket’s relative importance, increased by 3.03%, due to price rises in the following activities: grain mill products by 11.04%, bakery products by 4.94%, vegetable and animal oils and fats by 4.36%, prepared animal feed by 1.63%, clothing by 1.19%, and textiles by 1.14%, despite decreases in meat processing and preservation by 3.61% and rubber and plastic products by 1.46%.
Prices of electricity, gas, steam supply, and air conditioning, representing 8.23% of the product basket, rose by 2.15% in July 2025 compared to the previous month.
Meanwhile, prices of goods produced by agriculture, forestry, and fishing activities, which constitute 29.94% of the product basket, decreased by 1.27%, due to a 4.88% drop in prices of non-permanent crop farming. Average prices included: hot pepper at 23.92 NIS/kg, sweet green pepper at 6.96 NIS/kg, okra at 73.42 NIS/kg, green beans at 21.21 NIS/kg, potatoes at 9.92 NIS/kg, and local dry onions at 35.95 NIS/kg, despite increases in prices of greenhouse tomatoes at 20.00 NIS/kg, greenhouse cucumbers at 8.27 NIS/kg, zucchini at 6.69 NIS/kg, eggplant at 13.72 NIS/kg, and dry garlic at 637.83 NIS/kg.
Prices of goods related to animal production decreased by 4.43%, with average prices of local lamb at 50.63 NIS/kg and local goat at 40.92 NIS/kg.
Prices of goods related to fishing activities recorded a sharp increase of 38.21%. Prices of goods from perennial crop farming also rose sharply by 27.31%, with average prices of figs at 22.53 NIS/kg, dates at 33.21 NIS/kg, and apples at 5.04 NIS/kg.
Overall, price levels in Gaza Strip are highly volatile due to Israeli aggression developments, not market-driven factors, significantly impacting the general price index for Palestinian territories. These factors must be considered when interpreting the producer price index and average prices. Due to the exceptional circumstances and sharp regional data disparities, average prices in Palestinian territories cannot be reliably used, especially given the significant price changes in Gaza.
Prices of mining and quarrying products, representing 1.41% of the product basket, and prices of water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities, representing 1.50% of the basket, remained stable during July 2025.
