The Egyptian Opera House, headed by Dr. Alaa Abdel Salam, announced the extension of the registration period for the competition accompanying the events of the 33rd Arab Music Festival and Conference, directed by Maestro Tamer Ghneim and his deputy Maestro Dr. Mohamed El Mogy, until Monday, October 6.

The competitions are part of the Ministry of Culture’s plans aimed at discovering and supporting promising talents in singing and playing musical instruments. This year, the competitions include three categories as follows:

    • First: Dr. Rateeba El-Hefny Competition in Arabic Singing for youth aged 17 to 40. Applicants must submit a video no longer than 3 minutes and pay a symbolic registration fee. In the first stage, the contestant performs one of the works of the Star of the East Umm Kulthum, in addition to a song of their choice. The first prize is 50,000 Egyptian pounds, the second 40,000, and the third 30,000.
    • Second: The Arabic Ensemble Competition for ages 18 to 45. The ensemble must consist of 5 to 7 musicians and perform a mandatory piece in one of the Arabic music forms (Sama’i – Longa), plus another piece of their choice, with a symbolic fee. The winning ensemble receives 70,000 Egyptian pounds.
    • Third: Dr. Rateeba El-Hefny Competition in Arabic Singing for children aged 6 to 12. Applicants must submit a video up to 3 minutes and pay a symbolic fee. In the first stage, the contestant performs one of Umm Kulthum’s works alongside a song of their choice. The first prize is 35,000 Egyptian pounds, the second 30,000, and the third 25,000.

The Egyptian Opera House also provides full accommodation and local transportation for foreign contestants coming from abroad, while the contestant covers the cost of the plane ticket. Applications must be submitted via the official website and email.
