The Iranian national football team began their campaign in the qualifiers for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup with a big 4-0 victory over Hong Kong today, Wednesday, at Al Nahyan Stadium in Al Wahda Club, Abu Dhabi. This match opened Group 9, which also includes the UAE and Guam, with the group matches continuing until the 9th of this month.

Although the first half ended goalless, Iran took the initiative in the second half, dominating the game and securing the win.

The goals for Iran were scored by Mehdi Jafari (69′), Amir Mohammadi (73′), and substitute Kasra Taheri (87′ and 91′).
