Global star Liam Hemsworth has spoken for the first time about replacing his co-star Henry Cavill in the series “The Witcher,” with the fourth season being the first without Cavill in the role of Geralt of Rivia.
While Hemsworth briefly spoke about taking on the role when his casting was announced, the Australian actor had not been forthcoming about the change until now, deciding to speak openly about replacing Cavill in a new conversation with Entertainment Weekly.
Hemsworth explained why he hadn’t talked much about the role, saying: “There was a lot of gossip, and I had to ignore it, especially as it started to distract me. I’ve dealt with this kind of thing a lot in the past, and ultimately, I love filmmaking, storytelling, and acting. I don’t want any of that to affect the way I tell the story I’m trying to tell, so I stayed away from social media and the internet most of last year.”
He recalled being offered the role to replace Cavill, saying: “The offer came out of nowhere, I was surprised like anyone else.”
Although Hemsworth has always been a fan of “The Witcher” series through its games, describing “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” as “one of the best video games,” he still has doubts about the role and needs to delve deeper into the books and the first three seasons of the show.
