Engineer Abdullah bin Khamis Al-Zaidi, the Mayor of Taif, conducted a field tour to inspect four municipal projects, including the Middle Ring Road, Naseem Bridge at the intersection of King Khalid Road and Khalid bin Al-Walid Street, the humanization project of Shahar Street, and the new municipality building on Wadi Waj Road.
The tour began with reviewing the progress of the Middle Ring Road, one of the most important new traffic arteries in the governorate. Once operational, it will ease traffic flow in Taif and its suburbs by connecting the South and Al-Sail roads, passing through the East-West axis, Taif University, and the airport road.
He reviewed the work of teams and machinery that have paved and compacted large parts of the road after the municipality completed the construction of culverts, protective works, flood risk prevention, and rainwater drainage along the entire 25-kilometer length of the road, which has a width ranging from 80 to 100 meters to accommodate high traffic density. The Mayor emphasized the speedy completion of the road as part of infrastructure enhancement projects in Taif, which create an integrated link between public roads and new developmental axes in the governorate, supporting all vehicle movement corridors within the internal road network.
Next, Engineer Abdullah bin Khamis Al-Zaidi inspected the final phase of the Naseem Bridge project at the intersection of King Khalid Road and Khalid bin Al-Walid Street, expected to open soon to help residents by easing traffic flow at this vital junction. The project will improve the intersection area and service roads, supporting the municipality’s efforts to achieve smooth traffic flow from the south to the north of the city and vice versa. The project serves several neighborhoods including Naseem, Industrial, Al-Jal, Al-Bay’ah, King Fahd Plan, Al-Qamariah, Al-Suhaili, Jabra, Al-Muntazah, among others. It also helps accommodate traffic flow to and from the airport road, South Road, Gardens Road, Hassan bin Thabit Road, Al-Jal Street, and Wadi Waj, ensuring free movement for the heavy traffic coming to and from the commercial Khalid bin Al-Walid Street. The municipality also serves the new Middle Ring Road axis through this vital intersection.
The Mayor also reviewed the humanization and development project of Shahar Street to enhance the quality of life in the city and improve the urban landscape. The project will apply universal accessibility standards in municipal facilities and pedestrian walkways. It is located on one of the main vehicle and commercial activity corridors and will include wide walking paths supporting investment and commercial activities along this axis. The municipality aims to succeed in the Quality of Life program for residents and visitors by developing an environment that creates more vibrant options and promotes positive lifestyles. The Mayor highlighted the importance of citizen and resident interaction with these projects, which directly affect the community and open new horizons for quality of life through sports, entertainment, culture, and commerce.
Engineer Abdullah Al-Zaidi also inspected the progress of the new municipality building project located at the intersection of King Abdullah Road and Wadi Waj Street in the city center. The building is considered an architectural and civilizational landmark, including an administrative building, a building for visitors, a main conference hall shaped like a dome, in addition to all supporting facilities and sufficient parking for employees and visitors.
The Mayor praised the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Taif, for all developmental and improvement projects in the governorate, noting that the municipality is working to implement all projects that serve residents and visitors and facilitate their affairs.
