Manchester City suffered a humiliating 1-2 defeat against their stubborn hosts Brighton on Sunday, in the third round of the English Premier League.

Norwegian star Erling Haaland opened the scoring for City in the 34th minute of the first half.

However, the home team struck back twice in the second half, with goals from English player James Milner and German Brian Groda in the 67th minute (penalty) and 89th minute respectively.

With this loss, Manchester City suffered their second consecutive defeat, leaving them with three points and dropping to 12th place in the Premier League standings so far, awaiting the results of the remaining matches in this round.

City had previously lost at home to Tottenham (0-2) in the last round, raising questions about the future of the Spanish “football philosopher” Pep Guardiola, who might decide to leave early before the end of the season amid the team’s inconsistent performance and poor results continuing from last season.

On the other hand, Brighton secured their first victory of the season, raising their points to four and moving up to 10th place in the standings, also awaiting the results of the other matches in this round.
