The Iranian Embassy in Lebanon described American policies as “pathetic,” criticizing the behavior of American envoy Thomas Barak who insulted Lebanese journalists during a press conference at Baabda Palace. The embassy statement said, “Those American policies are pathetic, immersed in tyranny, arrogance, and contempt for peoples, as are those who implement them.” It added, “There is a vast gulf between their approach and ours, clearly manifested in two contrasting scenes: Dr.
Ali Larijani appearing on Lebanese platforms with polite and tactful discussions, boldly and openly answering even the sharpest questions; versus American envoys whose men direct insults and obscene language at journalists.” The statement concluded, “Their women make cheap statements lacking manners, revealing blind hatred towards honorable fighters worldwide.” The American envoy Thomas Barak caused an uproar on social media after his press conference at Baabda Palace due to his manner of dealing with Lebanese journalists, saying before the conference started: “Be quiet for a moment… the moment the situation becomes chaotic and animalistic, we will leave.”
