American actress Jennifer Lawrence is to receive an honorary award at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain for her body of work, the event organizers announced on Tuesday. The festival will take place from September 19 to 27, 2024, in the northern Spanish city of San Sebastian. The 35-year-old Oscar-winning actress, known for her role in “Silver Linings Playbook,” is described as “one of the most influential actresses of our time.” The award will be presented on September 26 at the Kursaal Congress Centre during the screening of her latest film “Don’t Look Up,” which she also produced.
Lawrence, who starred in films such as “The Hunger Games,” “American Hustle,” “Don’t Look Up,” and “Joy,” has distinguished herself as a producer through her company “Excellent Cadaver,” which tells bold and thought-provoking stories, including the films “Causeway” and “No Hard Feelings.” The 73rd edition of the festival will also honor Spanish producer Esther García, who has worked with Pedro Almodóvar since 1986, with the Donostia honorary award.
