The Brazilian Football Confederation announced on Tuesday that the Seleção will play two friendly matches in October 2025 as part of preparations for the 2026 World Cup hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Brazil will face South Korea in Seoul on October 10, then travel to Tokyo to play Japan on October 14. Brazil has already secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup before their final two qualifying matches against Chile and Bolivia next month. Rodrigo Caetano, the team’s general coordinator, explained that these friendlies are part of a comprehensive plan to test the team against diverse football styles. He stated, “We aim to diversify opponents in preparation for the World Cup.
After facing South Korea and Japan, we plan to play African teams in November and European teams in March and June 2026.” Head coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed optimism about the upcoming matches, emphasizing they will help analyze player characteristics deeply ahead of the tournament, which will feature 48 teams for the first time in history.
