In Manama on August 26, the Writers and Poets Family announced the launch of the fourth edition of its annual short story competition, organized this year under the motto “Late Dr. Jaafar Al-Hadi Short Story Competition 2025,” in memory of the late and in appreciation of his distinguished literary contributions to the Bahraini cultural scene.
Dr. Rashid Najm, President of the Writers and Poets Family, confirmed that the launch continues the success of previous editions and aims to enhance literary activity by encouraging creative writing and discovering new talents that enrich the cultural arena. The competition is open to all age groups starting from 18 years old, providing an opportunity for many creatives to participate, especially given Bahrain’s wealth of talents in short story writing.
Ms. Nada Naseem, Chairwoman of the Youth Committee and competition coordinator, explained that this edition pays special attention to youth, giving them ample space to showcase their literary talents, emphasizing the importance of adhering to submission conditions.
She noted that participation is open until the end of October, with submitted texts evaluated by a jury of distinguished writers and critics. Winners will receive financial rewards, in addition to a special honoring ceremony celebrating their creative experience.
