Google has launched a new video editing tool called Google Vids, integrated directly into Google Drive. This tool allows users to easily edit videos without leaving the browser or using external software. Currently, it is available for Google Workspace accounts dedicated to businesses, educational institutions, and non-profits, as well as subscribers to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra packages.
Google Vids offers basic video editing features such as trimming, adding text, and inserting music. Users can also merge videos, images, and GIF files to create entirely new videos. The tool supports popular video formats like MP4 and WebM and allows importing content from Google Drive or Google Photos, as well as direct uploads from devices or copying files from the web. To ensure smooth performance, the tool limits clips to a maximum duration of 35 minutes and a size of 4 GB per clip.
In addition to editing, Google Vids provides innovative features like screen and video recording directly from the browser, facilitating new content creation. It also offers ready-made templates and the ability to import Google Slides presentations to convert them into videos. The tool is compatible with most browsers, but for the best experience and full functionality, it is recommended to use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge on Windows.
This initiative is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to make Google Drive a comprehensive hub for managing and sharing video content, including previous features like video transcripts that simplify searching for specific content within clips.
