The State Recitation Competition, now in its fourth day and held at Al-Nasr Mosque in Mansoura city, Dakahlia Governorate, under the auspices of the Ministry of Endowments and the United Company, witnessed the participation of dozens of contestants from Dakahlia, Sharqia, and Damietta governorates in the branches of recitation and Tajweed. The competition features a wide range of age groups, with remarkable performances before the judging panel. The competition started on August 23 and will continue until August 27, taking place across the Arab Republic of Egypt. It aims to discover vocal talents in the arts of recitation and chanting, reinforcing Egypt’s leadership in this field that continues to captivate hearts and ears worldwide.

Sheikh Mohamed Awad, Deputy Minister of Endowments in Dakahlia, described the competition as a splendid Quranic festival where people of the Quran gather from everywhere to compete not only for worldly prizes but for the honor of selection and elevation in ranks. The competition supports Egypt’s soft power and its regional and international role in spreading the message of the Holy Quran through two main branches: Tajweed and Tartil. The stages are supervised by specialized scientific committees of senior scholars and reciters who select the best talents nationwide based on strict criteria including performance quality, mastery of rules, voice beauty, and recitation accuracy. The prizes are distributed as follows: one million Egyptian pounds for the best talent in Tajweed, one million for the best talent in Tartil, 500,000 for second place in each branch, and 250,000 for third place.

The qualifiers will continue for over two months due to the high turnout, with approximately fourteen thousand contestants from across the country.
