US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he had another conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin since the major meeting with European leaders at the White House. Trump added, “Every conversation I have had with him was good,” but lamented that unfortunately, bombs are still being detonated in Kyiv or elsewhere, which makes him very angry. He noted that he thought the Ukrainian conflict would be the easiest for him to resolve, but “strange things happen in war.” Trump praised Putin’s response to his visit to Alaska for their meeting earlier this month, describing it as a “big statement” proving his desire for peace. Since taking office for the second time in January, Trump has repeatedly sought to end the war in Ukraine, pressuring both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Putin to meet and reach an agreement.
Trump also mentioned discussing “nuclear arms reduction” with Putin, emphasizing that China should join this effort. He said, “We have the most, Russia is second, then China is third,” adding that China is far behind but will catch up within five years. He concluded by saying, “We would like nuclear disarmament.”
