The second edition of the performance “Tarhal” has launched in the “Mayadin” site in Diriyah Governorate, continuing until the 25th of this month. It is the first Saudi performance of its kind, combining elements of nature and modern theatrical techniques to present an innovative show inspired by national heritage. The story follows “Saad,” a young Saudi man who embarks on a journey across the Kingdom, seeking his identity and past to explore a future he shapes with his own hands, carrying his ancestors’ legacy and ambitious passion. The show draws scenes from the Kingdom’s stunning natural landscapes, integrating contemporary lighting and visual effects alongside artistic panels inspired by musical heritage, performing arts, handicrafts, traditional costumes, and authentic culinary arts.
It also features interactive visual art content, light projections reflecting Saudi culture, sensory and sound effects, and thrilling acrobatic performances on stage and in the air, accompanied by horse neighing sounds and heritage sculptures representing Saudi nature. The second edition follows the success of the first in 2023, which was considered a qualitative leap in national theatrical performances in terms of creative style, cultural content, and visual integration between theatrical performance and technology. The Ministry of Culture aims through “Tarhal” to provide an exceptional artistic experience offering the audience immersive aesthetic enjoyment via a Saudi theatrical show with global standards, featuring Saudi talents alongside international stars specialized in this type of performance.
This effort is part of the Ministry’s initiatives to offer prestigious artistic and creative options to the local audience, enhancing the Kingdom’s status as a unique cultural destination and contributing to the development of the cultural sector and its role in achieving the cultural objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
