OpenAI announced the launch of GPT 5, the latest advancement supporting ChatGPT, representing significant improvements in many aspects. ChatGPT is scheduled to be integrated into Apple Intelligence soon, with an option for users to enable this feature, providing many functionalities.
In iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and Vision OS 2, the integration of ChatGPT within Apple Intelligence is powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4o model.
With the release of GPT 5, Apple plans to update this integration in iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26, expected next month, allowing users to benefit from the new model soon.
Apple Intelligence will gain new cross-device features with iOS 26, including real-time translation during FaceTime and phone calls. Additionally, the Visual Intelligence feature will see enhancements enabling users to search and interact with on-screen content more effectively.
Users can invoke Siri to access ChatGPT for specific requests like inquiries about images or documents. ChatGPT can also generate texts or images from descriptions and use Visual Intelligence via the Control Camera to provide information about the surrounding environment.
Apple assures privacy protection when using ChatGPT through Apple Intelligence by hiding IP addresses and preventing OpenAI from storing requests. If users link their OpenAI accounts with Apple Intelligence, OpenAI’s data usage policy will apply.
Apple is also expanding the On-Device Foundation Model for developers to create smarter applications based on the technology supporting Apple Intelligence, promising more powerful apps relying on these advancements.
Besides GPT 5, OpenAI announced two open-source models compatible with Apple Silicon Max devices and changes aimed at promoting healthy use of ChatGPT among users.
These upcoming software updates mark an important step toward integrating advanced AI capabilities into Apple’s ecosystem. With these enhancements, users can expect better functionality and higher privacy when using AI-powered tools on their devices.
