The Philippine national basketball team secured victory and a spot in the quarterfinals of the Asian Basketball Cup, hosted in Jeddah, after defeating the Saudi team in overtime with a score of 95-88.

The match started evenly between the two teams but quickly shifted to Philippine dominance in scoring, ending the first quarter 25-15. In the second quarter, the Saudi team regained control, scoring 14 consecutive points to lead 29-26. The quarter ended 40-37 in favor of the Philippines.

Both teams entered the third quarter with equal focus and intensity. Despite the experienced Philippine players, the Saudis showed strong performance with alternating scoring between Mohammed Abdulrahman and Mohammed Al-Suwailem, ending the quarter 60-59 for the Philippines. The fourth quarter saw back-and-forth scoring, finishing tied at 79-79, leading to overtime.

In overtime, the Philippines started strong and won the match 95-88 amid warm applause from the large Saudi crowd appreciating the players’ efforts.

With this result, the Philippines secured their place in the quarterfinals to face Australia. Earlier, China Taipei defeated Jordan 78-64 to secure their quarterfinal spot against Iran.
