The technical staff of Al Ahly, led by Spanish coach Jose Ribeiro, is preparing to face Ghazl El Mahalla after closing the chapter on the match against Pharco, which took place on Friday evening at Cairo International Stadium, as part of the second round of the Egyptian Premier League, ending with Al Ahly’s 4-1 victory. The draw for the 2025-2026 Egyptian Premier League season granted Al Ahly a bye in the third round and a match against Ghazl El Mahalla in the fourth round. Al Ahly aims to continue its journey defending the league title in the first local challenge for coach Jose Ribeiro, who took charge before the recent Club World Cup. The league started with an exceptional system including 21 teams due to the cancellation of relegation last season.

Al Ahly will face strong opponents in the first 10 matches, including Pyramids in the fifth round and Zamalek in the ninth. Right-back Mohamed Hany received two yellow cards in the Pharco match and will miss the upcoming match against Ghazl El Mahalla. Al Ahly signed several players including Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, and others, while some players left the club. Ghazl El Mahalla also signed new players including Ahmed Shosha and others. The match will be broadcast on ON Sport channel with an analytical studio featuring Egyptian football stars.
