Italian Jannik Sinner, ranked world No. 1, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz No. 2, and Polish Iga Swiatek No. 3 in women’s singles, have decided to participate in the mixed doubles competition at the US Open, the last Grand Slam tennis tournament scheduled from August 24 to September 7. The mixed doubles matches will be held under a new format in New York on Tuesday and Wednesday, following the trio’s participation in the Cincinnati finals in Ohio. Sinner will play alongside Czech Katerina Siniakova, ranked No. 2 in doubles, Alcaraz will partner with British Emma Raducanu, and Swiatek will team up with Norwegian Casper Ruud, ranked 12th in the world. The winning doubles team will share a prize of one million US dollars. Organizers aim to highlight mixed doubles competitions, which were previously held during the last week of singles matches.
