The Qatari Winter Sports Committee, in cooperation with the International Skating Union (ISU), concluded today the advanced training course in speed skating (short track), held over a full week at the ice rink in Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Hall in Doha. The course, held from August 3 to 9, featured elite Qatari players, coaches, and technicians, with an intensive training program including theoretical lectures and advanced practical sessions supervised by ISU experts. The course aims to develop national cadres in this sport and enhance the technical and physical performance of participants, preparing them for regional and international championships and strengthening Qatar’s position on the global winter sports map. Mr.
Ahmed Ali Al-Jaber, board member of the Qatari Winter Sports Committee, said in press statements: “This course comes within the framework of the strategic partnership between the committee and the ISU and represents an important step towards achieving our vision of building a new generation of qualified Qatari skaters capable of competing globally.” He added that Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Hall has become an accredited platform for hosting international events and training, thanks to its advanced facilities and training environment that meet the highest global standards. International coach Nicole Garrido, representing the ISU, praised the technical level of the participants and the noticeable progress they showed during the course, confirming that Qatar has great potential to become a key player in ice sports regionally and globally.
The closing day witnessed the distribution of certificates to participants in an official ceremony attended by representatives of the committee and the international federation. This course is part of a series of training programs organized by the Qatari Winter Sports Committee in cooperation with international federations, within the state’s strategy to support non-traditional sports and empower national competencies.
