In a funny and surprising moment, a “mouse” invaded the pitch of Cardiff City Stadium during the Wales vs Belgium match held yesterday (Monday) as part of the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The mouse entered the field in the 66th minute, stealing the spotlight, and Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois tried to catch it, but the mouse escaped his grasp, causing a wide reaction from the attending fans.

The referee was forced to stop the match for a few seconds until the mouse left the field after a short chase involving a Wales player.

The Belgian team snatched an exciting 4-2 victory, with Joe Rodon opening the scoring for Wales in the 8th minute, but Kevin De Bruyne equalized for Belgium 10 minutes later from a penalty kick, before Thomas Meunier gave the “Red Devils” the lead in the 24th minute.

De Bruyne scored a second penalty for Belgium in the 76th minute to strengthen the visitors’ lead, then substitute Nathan Broadhead reduced the deficit to one goal just one minute before the end of regular time.

Wales failed to equalize, as Belgium needed only 60 seconds to restore the two-goal lead.

With this win, Belgium raised its tally to 14 points at the top of Group 10, one point ahead of North Macedonia who drew 1-1 at home against Kazakhstan, while Wales remained with 10 points in third place.
