Danish coach Jes Torup, the new head coach of Al Ahly club, has requested the medical staff led by Ahmed Gaballah to review the nutrition program assigned to Imam Ashour, the team’s star player.
The Al Ahly medical team set October 20 as the date to decide Imam Ashour’s status regarding traveling with the team to the UAE to participate in the Egyptian Super Cup, which includes clubs Zamalek, Pyramids, and Al Ahly.
Imam Ashour has been absent from the team’s matches and training due to infection with virus A. The player is undergoing an intensive treatment program and continuous tests to recover from the virus he contracted after the match against Enppi on August 14.
Imam is scheduled for new tests on October 20 to assess his health progress and response to the treatment program to determine his participation in the Egyptian Super Cup. The player needs more than 10 days to undergo technical and physical training to qualify for the team’s roster in the tournament.
Al Ahly will face Ceramica on November 6 in the semi-final of the Egyptian Super Cup, which will be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The winner will meet the winner of the Zamalek vs. Pyramids match in the final on November 9.
