Al Ahly’s management has started looking to strengthen their attack by prioritizing the Congolese international striker Viston Mayili, currently playing for Pyramids FC, as their top target for next season’s transfers.

Sources inside the Red Castle confirmed that Al Ahly’s contracts department is closely monitoring Mayili, 31, preparing to sign him on a free transfer at the end of the season, as his contract with Pyramids is expiring with no clear intention to renew, according to Al-Watan newspaper.

The sources explained that Al Ahly sees Mayili as an ideal option after his remarkable performance and contribution to winning the CAF Champions League and Egypt Cup titles with Pyramids last season.

Arab Offers Delay Renewal

Viston “Ibrahim” Mayili has received attractive offers from Arab clubs, notably from the Saudi league, which has stalled renewal negotiations with Pyramids, especially after the club refused to raise his salary to the requested level.

Reports indicate that Mayili’s future with Pyramids will be decided in the coming weeks based on his personal decision.

Replacing Wissam Abu Ali at Al Ahly

Al Ahly’s management sought to compensate for the departure of Palestinian Wissam Abu Ali, who moved to play professionally in the American league during last summer’s transfer window, but negotiations with Mostafa Mohamed and Osama Faisal failed.

Al Ahly set a single goal before the season ends: to sign a foreign striker, while planning to release Moroccan defender Achraf Dari during the upcoming winter transfer window.

What Has Viston Mayili Achieved with Pyramids?

The Congolese striker played 93 matches with Pyramids, scoring 46 goals and creating 8 chances for his teammates.

Mayili won 3 team titles and an individual award during his career, all while wearing the Pyramids jersey, which he joined in summer 2023.

He won the CAF Champions League, Egypt Cup, the CAF-Asia-Pacific Champions Cup, and was the top scorer of the CAF Champions League in the 2024-2025 season.

Internationally, Mayili has played 29 matches for the Congo national team, scoring 5 goals, including assisting the winning goal against Togo on Friday evening.
