Doha, October 11 /BNA/ – The UAE national football team achieved an important victory over their Omani counterparts with a 2-1 scoreline in the match held today, Saturday, at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in the Qatari capital Doha, as part of the second round of the Asian playoff qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
With this win, the UAE team raised its points tally to 3, topping Group A, while the Omani team remained at one point. The UAE only needs a draw in their next match against Qatar on Tuesday to officially secure qualification to the World Cup.
The match saw Oman take the lead in the 12th minute with an own goal scored by UAE defender Kwame Aton following a shot from Issam Al-Sabhi.
In the second half, the UAE regained control, with Marcos Meloni scoring a brilliant header to equalize in the 76th minute, before Caio Lucas sealed the win for the UAE with a stunning long-range shot in the 84th minute.
