Major General Tarek Marzouk, Governor of Dakahlia, inspected today, Saturday, the development and upgrading works of the Umm Kulthum Theater at Mansoura Cultural Palace, as part of the governorate’s plan to revive the cultural and artistic spirit of the Bride of the Nile and restore Mansoura’s historic role as a beacon of creativity, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Al-Adl, Deputy Governor.
Comprehensive Development of Theater Facilities in Mansoura
The governor’s tour included following up on the structural rehabilitation works of the theater, updating lighting and sound systems, preparing the backstage and artists’ rooms, as well as improving seat capacity and movement paths to ensure a comfortable and safe cultural experience for the audience.
Accelerating Upgrading and Resuming Cultural Activities
The Governor of Dakahlia confirmed that he directed to expedite the upgrading of the theater to resume cultural and artistic activities and discover talents in various arts. He pointed out that the palace will witness in the coming period theatrical and musical performances, training workshops, and cultural salons targeting youth and children, in addition to programs for plastic arts, cinema, music, and choir.
Mansoura: Fortress of Art and Creativity
The governor added that Mansoura is a fortress of art and has produced icons who spread their art in Egypt and the Arab world, affirming that the governorate will preserve and develop this heritage.
He also explained that the development plan is not limited to the theater only but extends to include the library, art halls, and open spaces to hold festivals and street theaters, enabling culture for all groups and enhancing the city’s identity as the capital of fine arts in the Nile Delta.
Comprehensive Vision to Restore Mansoura’s Cultural Status
Major General Tarek Marzouk confirmed that the governorate is proceeding to restore Mansoura’s cultural status by developing infrastructure and launching talent discovery and sponsorship programs to ensure a renewed artistic presence worthy of the city’s rich history and to create a new generation of creators.
