American media reported on Friday that officials in the U.S. administration said President Donald Trump plans to invite world leaders to a summit in Egypt during his visit to the country. Several European and Arab leaders are expected to attend. The summit aims to rally additional international support for the U.S. peace plan concerning the Gaza Strip, where significant challenges remain regarding post-war arrangements, security, and reconstruction efforts.

Sources indicated the summit is likely to be held on Tuesday morning in Sharm El Sheikh, with a possibility of moving it to Monday. Meanwhile, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, in a phone call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, called for the deployment of international forces in Gaza and for granting international legitimacy to the ceasefire agreement.

On another note, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimi, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, represented the UAE at the high-level meeting convened by France the day before yesterday to discuss mechanisms for implementing the peace plan announced by President Trump.

In her speech during the meeting, Reem Al Hashimi praised President Trump’s leadership efforts and appreciated the persistent mediation efforts by Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar to end the war. She also welcomed the progress leading to the ceasefire, emphasizing the importance of seizing this pivotal moment to establish lasting and stable peace in the region.

Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians returned to their homes in the devastated Gaza Strip immediately after the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect. President Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, citing the Pentagon, announced that Israel has completed its withdrawals under the first phase of the Gaza agreement, noting the countdown has begun for the release of Israeli hostages within a 72-hour deadline.
