Actor Sherif El Desouky is participating in the eighth edition of the Actors’ Syndicate Festival, chaired by Dr. Ashraf Zaki, presenting the play “Ala Rayeq” which he wrote and directed. The play will be shown next Sunday, October 12, at the Nihad Salihah Theater at the Academy of Arts at 10 PM.

Sherif El Desouky is an Egyptian storyteller, actor, writer, and director, born in Alexandria. His father was the director of the Ismail Yassin Theater, and Sherif lived with his father in a house behind the theater, which sparked his passion. He worked in almost all theater professions. After the demolition of the Ismail Yassin Theater, he moved to work in cultural palaces and independent troupes since 1990.

He has written and directed many theatrical productions and worked as an acting coach and stage and film actor. He is distinguished in storytelling and improvisation, reaching the level of a master storyteller.

He began his professional film career in 2003 with the film “Violence and Mockery” directed by Asmaa El Bakry, and short films “Hawi” and “Hot Dry Summer.” He won the Best Actor award at the 39th Cairo International Film Festival in 2018.
