The UAE Cybersecurity Council emphasized the importance of encrypting smart devices as the strongest digital shield to protect personal information. It explained that encryption protects user data even if the phone is stolen, preventing leakage and access by fraudsters to manipulate it. Encryption also repels cyberattacks and strengthens the system against malware.
Through its official social media accounts, the council urged individuals to protect themselves and their sensitive information by encrypting their smartphones. It pointed out that deleting files does not completely erase their traces, as there are still misconceptions about encryption features that leave data exposed to digital criminals. The council clarified that modern encryption has become easy, strong, and accessible to everyone, calling for making it part of daily routine to ensure maximum digital security.
It also confirmed that cybersecurity starts with a strong personal identification number (PIN), which is the primary means to control devices and electronic accounts such as phones, credit cards, and tablets, serving as the first line of defense against fraudsters attempting to access data.
The council stressed the necessity of regularly updating the PIN and avoiding the use of easily guessable personal information, such as birth dates or repeated numbers.
